Sprout Social Alternatives for Small Businesses (2026)
Sprout Social is a strong product. It combines publishing, a shared inbox, listening, reviews and detailed reports, and it is priced for teams that use all of that: per seat, per month. For a small business or a one-person marketing team that mostly needs to plan posts and get them out on time, most of that price pays for features you will not open.
Prices below were checked on each company's pricing page on 7 October 2026.
Full disclosure: PostClaw is our product. Read its entry with that in mind.
What Sprout Social costs
Sprout Social's plans are priced per seat (per user) each month:
- Essentials: $79 per seat a month billed yearly, or $99 billed monthly, for 5 social profiles.
- Standard: $199 per seat a month, 5 social profiles.
- Professional: $299 per seat a month, unlimited profiles.
- Advanced: $399 per seat a month.
There is a free trial, but no free plan. For two people on Standard, that is about $400 a month.
The alternatives
1. Buffer — simple scheduling, priced per channel
Buffer's Essentials plan is $5 a month per channel billed yearly ($60 a year), with unlimited scheduled posts. Team is $10 a month per channel. There is also a free plan for up to three channels.
Pick it if you want a clean scheduler and pay only for the channels you use.
2. Hootsuite — the closest all-in-one
Hootsuite's plans start at $99 a month (Standard), then $199 (Professional) and $399 (Advanced). It covers publishing, inbox and analytics, like Sprout.
Pick it if you need the full suite but want a different interface or contract.
3. Later — visual planning for Instagram and TikTok
Later's Starter plan is $18.75 a month billed yearly, for one social set (one profile per network, eight in total) and up to 30 posts per profile. Growth is $37.50 a month billed yearly. Both start with a 14-day free trial.
Pick it if your business lives on Instagram and TikTok and you plan visually.
4. Metricool — analytics on a budget
Metricool has a free plan (one brand, 20 posts a month, no LinkedIn or X) and paid plans from €16 a month that add more brands, unlimited publishing and LinkedIn.
Pick it if reporting matters to you and you want it without enterprise pricing.
5. PostClaw — when the hard part is writing the posts
PostClaw is a scheduler with the writing built in. You describe your business once; the AI drafts a week of posts in your voice, adapts each one for Instagram, Facebook Pages, TikTok, LinkedIn profiles, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest and more, and publishes them on schedule.
- Free: 2 social accounts, 50 posts a month, 20 AI calls to start.
- Paid: from $10 a month (Connect, 10 accounts), then Pro at $20 (15 accounts) and Business at $50 (25 accounts).
- Your own AI key: connect OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or others and pay the provider directly, with no markup.
Pick it if you can schedule posts fine but never find the time to write them. Skip it if you need a shared inbox, social listening, LinkedIn Company Pages or Google Business Profile. Sprout, Hootsuite or Zoho Social do those.
