30 Social Media Post Ideas for Contractors and Home Service Businesses
Homeowners hire the contractor whose work they have seen. Every job you finish is a post waiting to happen, and every question a customer asks on site is another one. The ideas below work for fencing, roofing, plumbing, landscaping, cleaning, painting and most other trades.
How to use this list: take photos on every job — before, during, after — and pick three to five ideas a week. Our free content calendar template keeps them in one place.
Posts that show your work
- Before and after. "120 feet of cedar privacy fence, done in two days. Swipe for the before."
- Time-lapse. A 20-second video of a full day's work.
- The detail most people miss. "Why we set every post in concrete below the frost line."
- Materials explained. "Wood, vinyl or aluminium: what each costs to keep up over ten years."
- Job of the week. One project, three photos, two sentences.
- Tools of the trade. The one tool your crew could not work without.
- A problem you fixed. "This is what a leak behind a shower wall looks like after a year."
- Clean-up shot. Show the site after you leave; it answers a question every homeowner has.
Posts that bring in estimates
- Booking reminder. "Booking for spring now. Message us for a free estimate."
- Three signs it is time. "Three signs your fence posts are rotting (and the cheap fix)."
- Seasonal checklist. "Five things to check on your roof before the first storm."
- Service area map. "We work in [towns]. Not sure if you are in range? Ask."
- How estimates work. What you measure, how long it takes, what the price includes.
- Financing or payment options, if you offer them, stated plainly.
- Limited slots. "Two install slots left in May."
- FAQ answered on video. "Do I need a permit for a 6-foot fence in [town]?"
Posts that build trust
- Customer review with the result. The photo plus their words (with permission).
- Meet the crew. Names, roles, how long they have been with you.
- Licensed and insured, explained. What it means for the homeowner.
- Safety on site. How you protect lawns, floors and pets.
- A mistake to avoid. "Why the cheapest quote often costs more."
- Warranty in plain words. What is covered and for how long.
- Supplier or partner shout-out. Tag the local yard you buy from.
Posts for seasons and community

- Winter care tips for whatever you install.
- Local event or sponsorship. The youth team you support.
- Anniversary. "Ten years and 900 fences in [area]."

A note on licensing in ads
Some states require your contractor licence number in advertising, and that can include social media profiles and posts. Check your state licensing board's rules, and put the number in your bio if it applies.
