How to Schedule Threads Posts: In the App and With a Scheduler

Threads is Meta's text-first network, and it rewards showing up regularly. The catch is that "regularly" competes with everything else you do. Scheduling solves that: decide what to say once, and let the posts go out at the right times.

There are two ways to schedule Threads posts. Use whichever fits how much you post.

Method 1: Schedule inside the Threads app

For an occasional post, the app itself is enough. Write your post, use the scheduling option in the Threads composer, and pick a date and time.

This works well for one post at a time. It gets tedious when you want to plan a week in one sitting, see everything on one calendar, or publish the same idea on other networks.

Method 2: Schedule Threads posts with a scheduler

A scheduler publishes through the official Threads API. You plan in one place, and the posts go out on time whether or not your phone is on.

What a Threads post can hold

  • Up to 500 characters of text.
  • Images (and video) attached to the post.
  • Reply controls — who can reply to the post.

Step 1: Connect Threads

Sign in to PostClaw with Google or GitHub — one click, no credit card. Open Channels, choose Threads, and approve access on Meta's sign-in screen. If you can post on threads.com, you are ready.

Step 2: Write, or let the AI draft

Open the Composer, select your Threads channel and write the post. Threads posts that do well tend to read like a person talking: a clear opinion, a question, a short story. Not an ad.

If you add an AI key (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, OpenRouter and others), the composer can draft in your brand voice. New accounts get 20 free AI calls to try it first; after that the AI runs on your key, billed by your provider with no markup.

Step 3: Schedule and review on the calendar

Pick a time and schedule. Every scheduled post shows on the Calendar, where you can move, edit or delete it before it publishes.

Step 4: Reuse the idea on other networks

A good Threads post is often a good Bluesky, X or LinkedIn post with small changes. Select several channels in the composer and PostClaw adapts the text to each platform's length and style — Bluesky's 300-character limit, for example — instead of copying it word for word. You check each version before it goes out.

Which method should you use?

You want to… Use
Post now and then, Threads only The Threads app
Plan a week in one sitting A scheduler
Post the same idea to Threads, Instagram, Bluesky or X A scheduler
Draft posts with AI in your own voice A scheduler with AI (PostClaw)

Tips for Threads

  • Post consistently, not in bursts. One to three posts a day beats ten on Monday and nothing until Friday.
  • Start conversations. Replies count. Ask something your audience has an opinion on, then answer the replies.
  • Use topic tags sparingly so the right people find the post.
  • Do not paste your Instagram caption. Threads readers skim text; lead with the point.

Try it: start free — the Free plan connects two social accounts and schedules up to 50 posts a month.
